About Sally

Sally’s life is a palette of many colors. In addition to being a successful watercolor artist, she is also a book author, the mother of four, a gourmet cook, an avid traveler, a tennis player, a loyal and trusting friend, and …a professional realtor.

Sally was born in London, England, not far from Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. As a teenager growing up in London, Sally was always impatient to experience new places, meet new people, and explore the world. At just nineteen, she set sail for Sydney, Australia. And three years later, Sally followed the sun to California.

Wherever she found herself, Sally loved life by the sea. From her early summers as a teenager in England and the south of France, to her years of work in Australia, to finally settling in California, she always needed to live by the coast. She loved to smell the salty air, to hear waves crashing at night, and to walk her dog on the beach in the early morning. It’s no surprise that she would ultimately settle in beautiful Santa Cruz.

When Sally first experienced Santa Cruz and all that it offers, she was determined make a home in this exciting community by the sea. A career in local real estate seemed the perfect profession for someone who loves meeting interesting people, and Sally was a natural. In time, it became her passion to help people achieve their real estate dreams, living the coastal lifestyle. Since 1974, she has worked tirelessly at it, specializing in selling homes near the ocean.

Over the years, Sally has been involved in this central coast community in a variety of other ways, including volunteer work for Grey Bears, as well as Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She has served as a member of the Capitola Arts Commission, the Board of Directors for Shakespeare Santa Cruz, and as a member of the Dominican Hospital Foundation Guild.

Her personal involvement in the community is ample proof that Sally believes in personal commitment. Whether she is doing art or real estate, she feels strongly it’s more than just. She delights in interacting with people she meets, one-on-one, and becoming involved in their lives as a friend and advisor. In fact, many of her art and real estate clients have become very close personal friends over the years.

As those friends already know, Sally Bookman is an extremely capable person…the perfect example of the saying,” If you want something done right, give the job to a busy person”. She is everything a good hard-working businesswoman should be: organized, creative, energetic, professional, supremely successful, yet carrying and sympathetic.

If you need advice and assistance in buying or selling a home in Santa Cruz County, Sally Bookman is the right person to call because, having been here for more than 30 years, she understands what living on the central coast is all about. It’s in her blood.
